![]() ![]() And we asked ourselves again, What if the next president was a bartender?ĭon’t drink and drive. It is known that many bartenders are highly graduated from universities and are career graduates. Bartenders or mixologists mix and serve drinks to patrons directly or through waitstaff. ![]() What if the next president was a bartender? Perhaps from the sagacity and quick reaction of a bartender, curiosity, organization and decision-making power Lincoln drew his best political talents. for states licensed x average burdens 1st is worst. Abraham Lincoln became the 16th president of the United States in 1861 – and first bartender! Nevertheless, we already know how the story ended. It was in fact an excuse for his electoral opponents to defame him. His political career, however, led him to deny that he ever sold an alcoholic beverage. Lincoln then ran for state parliament and won. His partner, Berry, disappeared from alcoholism and the tavern closed. The variety in the tavern ranged from brandy to gin, wine, rum, whiskey and beer.īut Lincoln’s bartender career lasted until 1834. They then became licensed bartenders and served spirits and liquors. But the ban on the sale of alcohol for consumption inside the store led Lincoln and Berry to transform the store into a tavern and acquire a license in 1833. ![]() On his return from the Black Hawk war, Lincoln teamed up with William Berry and bought a store in New Salem, Illinois. And Abraham Lincoln decided to be a bartender at the age of 23. The wedding bartender cost per hour, could be around 20. In addition to tips, bartenders usually charge an hourly fee, too. On a lucky day, tips could add up to 1,000 or more, but this is rare, says Price. But what do we know about spirits? True, George Washington established the largest whisky distillery in the United States and Thomas Jefferson made his own beer. Gratuity can cost between 15 to 20 and bartenders can make between 100 to 500 in tips, but they usually have to split that amount. It’s not the first time we’ve heard of a president with a parallel career: actor, professors, engineers. We have found that Abraham Lincoln was and has been the only licensed bartender president. ![]() ![]() He raced the same two as the previous year, and this time snagged the top spot in his group in Aspen Snowmass, three minutes behind the overall winner. With another year’s progress behind him, better grip strength and better control in his arm, he completed two more enduros in 2022. With more weight on the saddle of the dirt bike he felt more capable handling it through corners and using his legs and hips to control the bike. He’d waited to ride a dirt bike again, thinking the heavier machine would be harder to handle, but it was much the opposite. Schafer raced the Revolution Enduro in Steamboat Springs and Aspen, Colorado and placed 7th in his age group in both, just four to five minutes behind the overall winner. That summer, after his knee felt stable again, he wanted to race. In January of 2021, he had surgery on his knee and repaired his PCL, MCL, LCL and meniscus, all torn in the crash. They cut into his arm from a different point on four different surgeries on the inside and outside of the arm from the shoulder to the elbow, then on his back, and by his rib cage. ![]() It went so well, the doctor said she could operate on him the next day. Schafer and his family flew out for a consultation. Connecting with other physical therapists and surgeons though, Schafer finally got referred to a doctor in St. They found a lot of surgeons for newborns, but finding a doctor who specialized in adult brachial plexus injuries was much harder. Minor injuries are common in contact sports and newborn brachial plexus injuries are somewhat common, according to the Mayo Clinic.įrom there, the hunt was on. The brachial plexus is a bundle of nerves sending signals from the spinal cord to the shoulder, arm and hand. In the hospital in New Mexico, a close friend familiar with another dirt biker’s injury, mentioned to Schafer that he might have a brachial plexus injury. As an athlete, he’d always been able to improve his physical shortcomings through work and discipline. When he graduated, he was told that his arm, hanging heavily at his side, was as good as it would get. A new life, a new hope Photo courtesy Cody SchaferĪfter his crash, Schafer went home to Colorado and completed physical therapy to the extent doctors thought it would be beneficial. “I don’t know where else to find that,” he said. The result an incomparable feeling of clarity and sense of freedom. Whether racing on his mountain bike or dirt bike, Schafer found his passion and purpose gripping handlebars and churning dirt under his tires. He snagged 16th in a tight field, one minute behind the winner of the amateur division. The course was lauded by many as one of the steepest and most technical rounds of the series. In 2017, he took on his first enduro MTB race, the Santa Fe round of the Big Mountain Enduro series. ![]() ![]() You have so many neutral bike skills and feel what the bike is doing underneath you. “The terrain you’re reading directly crosses over. Schafer’s father and wife quickly realized this wasn’t an ordinary crash. Then, they heard three ambulances with their sirens blaring, speeding up the mountain. Someone walked down to their camp to tell them Cody had been in a crash and though he would be coming down on a backboard, not to be alarmed. He had a broken wrist, broken bone under his face, his knee was hyperextended and he couldn’t move his left arm.īack at base camp, Schafer’s wife and father were cooking breakfast at their Sprinter van. “Cody, wake up!” He was on the side of the road, his legs above his head. The next thing Schafer, 32, remembers is being woken up by the third rider who witnessed the crash. This time, he’d missed a course marker to veer left and sped straight down the road toward two riders, going about the same speed, who had missed the same marker and turned back around. Schafer had done this race, in Los Alamos, New Mexico before. Cody Schafer was going about 25MPH down a dusty service road on his dirt bike when he and another rider collided in September 2019. ![]() ![]() ![]() I value security and privacy greatly, and Discord just isn’t compatible with that mindset. It’s mainly to keep up to date with people that have similar interests to mine like mechanical keyboards or cryptocurrencies. I don’t use it for gaming purposes (for that I prefer forums). Discord is now the de-facto meeting place for many hobbiesīut I still use Discord daily, mainly because for a lot of the hobbies I am interested in, that is where the communities reside. Before eventually leaving Steam and self-hosting our own Matrix server that we now use for text chat. And we went to a hybrid of Steam for chat and a self-hosted TeamSpeak server for voice chat. We then decided to make a move to Discord, and it is undoubtedly better than Steam at being a communication platform. We were both quite fed up with Steam after a while, mainly due to the poor mobile app and not delivering notifications. In that time Steam had a major update to their chat feature that made it quite decent, whereas before it was barebones with poor voice chat. And for the longest time, we used Steam as our place to chat, both voice and text. I pretty much only play games with my brother. So, if you value your privacy and security when it comes to chats, this is worth keeping in mind. It comes at the expense of privacy, which for many, it isn’t worth it. Whilst this does have somewhat of a positive in that this allows for better moderation of content. ![]() This means that Discord can read every single one of your messages. Large communities are where Discord shinesįor large communities, there are so many features like roles, channels, and bots. And text chat works the way you would expect, with support for custom emojis and GIFs. When it comes to voice and video calls, the quality is good and the delay minimal, which is vital for online gaming. The biggest one is probably just how well Discord handles group chats, whether it be voice, video or text. It’s easy to see why gamers would gravitate towards the service. If you look past Discord’s marmite “gamer aesthetic” (regarding things like little references they make in the app), and look at the features that they offer. And for a service that launched just six years ago, it is really impressive. Which just shows the reach Discord has now. A service that pretty much every PC gamer has installed, doesn’t even beat out Discord. To put that in perspective, the leading PC gaming platform, Steam, managed 120 million monthly active users. It is the place to meet and interact with those that have similar interests to you.Īs of 2021, Discord has over 300 million registered users and over 140 million monthly active users.

By default, the touchpad scrolls in what Apple calls the "natural" direction - that is, you swipe with two fingers, and the screen follows you directly. ![]() Yes, there are other ways to scroll on a MacBook, but the touchpad remains the best option in most cases. UPDATE: It looks like there is a Sketch Plugin that allows scroll direction reversal so switching back to Sketch is looking good right now. So 'natural' zoom would be (scroll away - document moves away, scroll in - document moves - No it hasn't been addressed yet and unfortunately I guess only 4 comments per year isn't going to motivate anybody to want to address it. Apple's 'natural' scroll is perfect for up/down scroll (scroll up - document moves up, scroll down - document moves down). But then you will have to build a 'Preferences' interface as XD doesn't even have Corey - This is proof that Apple doesn't always get things right and just simply following suit isn't the best option. I understand Adobe wanting to make the transition from Sketch to XD as barrier-free as possible (let's not forget this is about money more than just creating perfect software), but it's really quite common for XD users to be PS and AI users too so the addition of an option to change zoom direction seems the way to go here. So I install XD in the hope of alleviating my frustration - and much to my amazement - XD is also opposite to PS/Ai. It drives me nuts when working with Sketch and PS/Ai together. So I decided to stop using Sketch because the Alt+Scroll which I use all the time across many apps is reversed, opposite to every other piece of design/photo/video software I use. ![]() ![]() ![]() Metroidvania structure is based on interconnection within the levels, and across the world. Maps in Dead Cells follow a few simple patterns, having an obvious main path with a few detour side paths (Promenade of the Condemned, Ramparts, Stilt Village) branching off into many separate paths with different exits, and teleporters to carry you back (Prison, Toxic Sewers, Ossuary) and having one clear path with few diversions (Ancient Sewer, Slumbering Sanctuary, Forgotten Sepulcher). Despite technically not being a metroidvania, the level structure it chose for itself is still extremely effective in its goals. Metroidvania is a design pattern across the entire map of a game’s world, where the map loops on itself, allowing areas from later in the game to fold back on areas from earlier in the game, where objectives are dispersed across this map to encourage unique routing. Your basic options are to use your weapons or tools, jump, double jump, roll, chug a potion, ground pound, or generic use button.ĭead Cells’ big influence is from Metroidvanias, and I think the influence is definitely positive on the game, but I don’t think it’s really a metroidvania, and I don’t think making it more like a metroidvania would be good for it. To help players reach new biomes and discover more of the game, we’re introducing the Aspects – optional super-strong buffs equippable at the start of a run that make the game a lot easier. No Regret opens 48 hours later when a supply freighter heading for the moon is diverted to search for survivors of the Vigilance platform's destruction. The WEC is getting close to tightening their grip further by completing the orbital bombardment platform Vigilance, which would allow them to bombard any point on Earth into rubble on a moment's notice through centralized control of nuclear-armed satellites and would itself remain safe by being a very small target well out of reach of conventional attack. The rest of his team is killed, so the Silencer betrays them in turn, joining up with the Global Resistance, who are trying to remove the WEC from their position of system-wide dominance. At the beginning of No Remorse the Silencer's team is betrayed by the WEC after refusing an order to kill unarmed civilians, identified by their commander as rebels. Made of roughly equal parts Syndicate, 1984, RoboCop, and Star Wars, the story is as follows: In the year 2196, the WEC is a global economic hegemony, ruling the Earth and other colonies in the solar system with an iron fist. Developed by Loose Cannon Productions and published by Origin Systems as Crusader: No Remorse (1995) and Crusader: No Regret (1996), they told the story of a Silencer, one of the World Economic Consortium's ( WEC)'s most elite soldiers. Disabling AdLock would fix it the two times I thought to try it. I’d check Edge and command line pinging and everything else was fine. I also had a problem a couple of times during this testing where Chrome would refuse to open up any sites. You might not notice that the form you’re trying to fill out was blocked or that something broke on the site you’re on until you’re pushing “submit” and nothing works. You just don’t notice blocked ads and that’s the point. While it did pop a 1 up over the plugin icon in Chrome, I didn’t notice it. You’re probably not in and out of RouterOS configs that much, I get it, but it did become evident that AdLock was stopping misc things from working that were not ads. ![]() ![]() ![]() I did enjoy that there were gag endings for most characters that show non-canon events wrapping things up for them and generally humour is very much on point here, interjected well with the more serious anime shenanigans. See in common fighting game fashion, each character has their own story which chronicles their journey and piecing together what happened from these into the overall picture can be entertaining, if very confusing at times. Many will lament the lost characterisation in the process but honestly Continuum Shift more than makes up for this with its branching design. ![]() Things aren’t helped by the fact that each entry ties into the next so heavily, but the developers at least had the sense here to include a playable version of Calamity Trigger that recaps the key points without including all the extra character stuff, making for a succinct but solid retelling. There is a solid central idea here built on a great sci-fi premise, but the franchise leans far too heavily the worst excesses of anime design which lets things down. ![]() It all culminates in a final showdown – but one that becomes increasingly familiar to all present as time goes on.ĭespite noble intentions, I have to say that the story in Continuum Shift – and across the Blazblue franchise in general – is a gigantic mess, which throws a load of proper nouns at you early on then expects you to remember these as it twists and turns along the way to its conclusion. In the modern era and through Continuum Shift, the game follows Ragna, a wanted criminal who has ties to a mysterious organisation experimenting with a substance called Seithr. At the beginning of Calamity Trigger Reconstruction, a bonus mode that retells the events of the previous game, it’s explained that the ‘Black Beast’ appeared out of nowhere and ravaged the world until it went dormant for a period, allowing the six legendary heroes to step in and save the planet. ![]() ![]() ![]() o exchange And all the little ants are marching Red and black antennas waving 13 6.Marching Medley orld6.
